G'day Gents... I am new to the forums here. While trying to research an issue with my Z, I stumbled across this forum. I am hoping someone here might be able to offer me some advice. I am the original owner of a 95 Twin Turbo, 74k miles. She is in really nice shape. Last year, she started deveoping boost issues. When I would start her up for the first time in the day, boost would be normal... in other words, powerful and fast as hell. My gage for boost reads from -14, to 0, to 14psi with each side split into 4 parts. So, first thing, the car would be developing boost to just under the third line. I am estimating about 10psi if the guages are correct. After the car has warmed up, I am lucky to reach about 5psi. This is a rather significant difference in power. After this point, the car will not develop more boost until the car has sat overnight to cool. I assume the heat has something to do with it. So, a couple of weeks ago, I finally broke down and took the car to the dealer, which is about 90 mins drive from my house. I had tried some of the local mechanics over the years, but it just appeared that I was wasting my money. No one really knew what they were doing with my car for anything more than just general issues. My reasoning went like this: It's the dealer, they are gonna charge me up the wazoo, but they at least should be the best authorities for this car. And, yep.. they utterly raped my wallet and I got mostly crap for it and a lot of pathetic excuses about the boost issue. No, they didn't fix it. In fact, they outright told me everything was within spec. And they utterly denied that the boost was ever higher. Well, I am not done with them, but I need to be armed with a little more information and I was hoping someone here could help. During the trip to the dealer, they changed the water pump which was leaking at the bearing, put in a new fan and shroud. Replaced the valve cover gaskets which were leaking. Replaced all the vacuum hoses and standoffs. They supposedly inspected the turbos and told me everything looked fine. Completely assure me that the boost issue was probably due to a vacuum leak which would be fixed in the maintenance they were doing. Despite all that, the boost is still as bad as ever. Any ideas? Thanks for your time, gentlemen. If there is any other information I can offer up, please feel free to ask.. Randall P.S. Really glad to have found this forum. Look forward to hanging out with you all.. Cheers!
